JA Finland team up with Aalto University to create a new course

Mentoring knowledge of working life is a new course available for all students at Aalto University. We are thankful and proud to be able to participate in its realization.

The course offers higher education students the opportunity to mentor businesses started up by high school students. In our JA Company Program a business functioning with real money is managed for one school year.

This is a course that cannot be merely performed. The major objective is to share something valuable of yourself to others.”

Niina Pitkänen, Course Facilitator

Any student that becomes a mentor will gain valuable practical experience of working with, listening to and encountering people of all ages and backgrounds. This is of utmost importance in today’s and tomorrow’s working life knowledge. Mentoring skills are also essential in managerial and human resource roles.

For the high school student, the course will provide an actual touchpoint with higher education and, of course, a great addition for the resumé.

During the conception and development of the course’s structure, Aalto’s agility and flexibility in co-operation was of utmost importance.

The following persons will be sharing their knowledge to participants during the course:

  • Laura Ihamuotila, Executive Director, Suomen Mentorit
  • Paula Hyytiäinen, Director of Teaching and an experienced mentor, Helsinki Business College
  • Pauli Aalto-Setälä, working life professor and ja director, Dentsu Aegis Network
