Youthful ideas and innovations at the JA Start Up Final Competition in Lahti

The most entrepreneurial college students of Finland came to the JA Start Up Final Competition in Lahti back in May. They where there to compete for the title of best student company and a spot at the European Final JA Start Up Competition.

The Great Escape NY from Kajaani University of Applied Sciences was chosen as the best company. They will represent Finland in the European final competition held in Bucharest on July 6th-8th.

The jury was fascinated by the team having identified a need of their local market and fulfilling it. The Great Escape NY has developed their business idea since last fall and created a successfully functioning company with a clear future expansion plan. The motivation and cooperation of the team also impressed the jury.

The winners of three other categories were chose at the final (see below): best salesperson, best company pitch, and best business potential.

12 Companies from different colleges in Finland participated. Each team received the chance to pitch their idea on a stage, impress the public at a trade fair, and be interviewed by the jury.

The organizer of the JA Start Up Final, Junior Achievement Finland, is a non-profit organization promoting actively an entrepreneurial attitude, better working life skills, and financial literacy among the youth aged 7-25 through entrepreneurship education programs done in schools.

The participants of the JA Start Up Final have taken part in the JA Start Up Program as a part of their studies.
