One day. One challenge. 20 students. The innovation competition organized by JA-YE Finland in association with Renewa brought together the visions of Aalto University students and a rising energy business company. Fresh new ideas were born as a result.

The theme of the NY Challenge held on February 16th was future energy production. The students were divided into five groups and given one day to invent a new concept of localized energy production in the 2030’s for Renewa Oy.

After an intense competition, the winning idea was born in the head of machinery and energy technology majors Ville Väänänen, Markus Ylänen, Jani Renvall, Petteri Puumala and Aleksi Haverinen. Renewa Oy CEO Tuomas Timonen handed out the award.

The winners were awarded with a 8000 euro development fund and a chance to develop their concept further with Renewa experts.

The polished concept will be presented at an event organized by Tekniikka&Talous magazine at the Finlandia Hall on May 9th.
